Alfonso Narvaez urodził się w 1940 r. Twórczością rzeźbiarską zajmuje się od 1962 roku. Zaczynał jako asystent rzeźbiarza, Joaquina Ariasa. Później był zastępcą i asystentem mistrza rzeźby, Juliána Martíneza. Jego pierwsza publiczna praca została wykonana w 1967 r. Był to posąg Francisca Garcii Salinasa. Stworzył wtedy specjalnie swoją pierwszą pracownię, w której miał możliwość modelowania i odlewania. Od tamtej pory ćwiczył i opanował różne procesy konieczne do realizowania swojej artystycznej twórczości (modelowanie, przygotowanie form, odlewnictwo, lutowanie, rzeźbienie i patenę).

Zajmował się wzornictwem przemysłowym i specjalizował w odlewnictwie, jak również w produkcji narzędzi i sprzętów dla własnego warsztatu.

Jest profesorem rzeźby w Instytucie Sztuk Pięknych w San Luis Potosí i w Państwowej Szkole Rzeźby. Prowadzi wiele rozmów i konferencji dotyczących rzeźby oraz sztuk pięknych. Stworzył do tej pory ponad pięćdziesiąt prac dla poszczególnych państw Republiki Meksyku (rzeźby, płaskorzeźby, popiersia, itp.). Jest Kawalerem Orderu Sztuki i Humanizmu (Bachelor of Art Degree in Science and Humanities).

W 1976 roku został odznaczony przez Narodowy Instytut meksykańskiej młodzieży (INJM) otrzymując tytuł "Professional Forger of Mexico Today" (w rzeźbie).

W 1962 roku otrzymał I miejsce w konkursie (jego pierwsza praca), który odbył się w mieście Pabellon, w Aguascalientes, w Meksyku. Był dwukrotnie laureatem drugiego miejsca w "Państwowym Konkursie Sztuk Plastycznych 20 Listopada". W 1995 roku był członkiem Zespołu Sędziów w tym samym konkursie.

Alfonso Narvaez was born 1940. He has been involved with Sculpture since 1962, first as assistant of the sculptor, Joaquin Arias, and later as understudy and assistant of the Master Sculptor, Julián Martínez. His first public work was executed in 1967 with the statue of Francisco García Salinas, for which he mounted his first workshop which included a modeling facility and foundry. From that moment on, he practiced and mastered the different processes of Artistic Casting (modeling, preparation of moulds, foundry, soldering, sculpting, and paten) in a directly personal fashion.

He has performed industrial design and specialized foundry as well as the manufacture of tools and implements for his own workshop.

He is professor of sculpture in the Institute of Fine Arts of San Luis Potosí and in the State School of Sculpture. He has given talks and conferences concerning Sculpture and Fine Arts in general. His works include more than fifty pieces (statues, reliefs, busts, etc.) for various States of the Mexican Republic. He has a Bachelor of Art Degree in Science and Humanities.

In 1976, he was promoted by the National Institute of Mexican Youth (INJM) to receive the title of “Professional Forger of Mexico Today” (in Sculpture).

In 1962 he was given First Place in Sculpture (with his first work) in a contest which took place in the City of Pabellón, Aguascalientes, Mexico. He has been twice the winner of Second Place in the “State Contest of Plastic Arts 20th of November”. He was member of the Panel of Judges for the same State Contest in 1995.
